Landscape Photographer of the Year 2021

Commended in the “Classic View” category.

Ice-Raft-Derwent

This Image would not have happened if it wasn’t for my good friend and long standing photographic colleague, James Howarth.

Sadly Jim’s mobility has become limited in recent years and now we try to find locations that are easy to access. Friars Crag, on the shore of Derwent Water, just about falls into that category.

On this morning we were greeted by rocks and this raft of weed that had been rimed with ice by the lapping waters of the lake.

This is a composite of two images, stacked together to achieve focus from the raft right back to the far hills with the longer lens needed to capture the shot.

Since the Covid Lockdown I haven’t been entering as many images in “Take A View but this one was Commended and appears in the book once again.
